// EDITORIAL METHODOLOGY — BRAVENOR

Formulation
Standards

The catalogue is built on a defined set of editorial standards governing how ingredients are selected, how batches are verified, how sourcing is documented, and how entries are maintained over time.

01 / OVERVIEW

The Catalogue Process

01

Ingredient Research

Candidate ingredients are evaluated against published nutritional science literature. Only ingredients with established safety profiles and documented nutrient contributions are considered for catalogue entry.

02

Sourcing Review

Supplier documentation is reviewed for food-grade processing compliance, chain-of-custody integrity from origin, and botanical identity verification. Only approved suppliers enter the sourcing register.

03

Batch Verification

Each batch is accompanied by a certificate of composition. Labelling accuracy is checked against the certificate data, and a batch reference code is assigned for catalogue record-keeping purposes.

04

Quarterly Revision

The full catalogue is reviewed each quarter. Entries are updated where supplier documentation has changed, and the revision log is archived with each issue. All prior versions remain accessible on request.

02 / INGREDIENT CRITERIA

What Earns a Catalogue Entry

The Bravenor catalogue applies a defined checklist before any ingredient is admitted to the formulation range. The checklist is applied without exception, regardless of commercial popularity or trend status of the ingredient.

Ingredients that pass the full checklist are assigned a catalogue series code and cross-referenced with the sourcing register. Ingredients under review are not listed until verification is complete.

Published safety profile
Ingredient must have an established safety profile documented in nutritional literature prior to review.
Botanical name and standardisation declared
Full INCI/botanical name, plant part used, and active content standardisation percentage must be declared by the supplier.
Food-grade processing facility
Supplier must operate under documented food-grade standards with verifiable processing certificates available on request.
Chain-of-custody from origin documented
Origin region, harvesting method, and supply chain transit records must be available for the catalogue sourcing file.
Nutrient contribution relevant to active men
The formulation contribution must be contextually relevant to the daily nutrition context of active men as scoped by the Bravenor catalogue brief.
03 / SOURCING STANDARDS

Supply Chain Expectations

Supplier Documentation File

Each supplier in the Bravenor sourcing register is required to maintain an active documentation file containing: certificate of origin, food-grade facility certificate, annual batch testing records, and labelling compliance confirmation. Files are reviewed at each quarterly revision.

Origin Region Disclosure

Country and region of ingredient origin is disclosed in each catalogue entry where available. Suppliers are required to update origin records when supply chain changes occur.

Whole-Food Priority

Preference is given to whole-food and minimally processed ingredient forms. Synthetic isolates are documented as such and noted in the formulation entry where applicable.

04 / BATCH VERIFICATION

How Batches Are Verified

Every ingredient batch included in the Bravenor catalogue is accompanied by a certificate of composition issued by the supplier or an independent testing laboratory. The certificate is cross-referenced against the declared serving content before the batch reference is added to the catalogue entry.

Batch reference codes follow the format: [SERIES]-[YEAR]-[INCREMENT] (e.g., A-04-24). These codes are logged in the archival register and remain accessible for future reference even after the catalogue entry has been updated to a newer batch.

In cases where a batch does not match the certificate declaration within acceptable tolerances, the entry is placed under review and marked pending until a compliant batch can be sourced and verified.

// BATCH REFERENCE FORMAT
[SERIES] - [YEAR] - [INCREMENT]
Example → A-04-24  |  M-02-24  |  V-01-24
// VERIFICATION CHECKLIST — BATCH
Certificate of composition received
Active content cross-referenced against label
Tolerance variance within accepted threshold
Batch reference code assigned and logged
Catalogue entry updated with new batch code
05 / REVISION CYCLE

Quarterly Review System

What Changes at Revision

At each quarterly revision, the editorial team reviews all active catalogue entries against any changes in supplier documentation, batch availability, or sourcing updates. New ingredients assessed during the quarter are considered for inclusion.

Entries are marked with a revision timestamp and increment code (e.g., REV 04-B). The prior version remains in the archival register. No entry is silently changed without revision notation.

Archival Register

All prior catalogue versions are archived with issue date, revision code, and editor sign-off. The archival register is maintained indefinitely and is accessible on request via the editorial office.

The current catalogue issue is always the live reference. The issue version is displayed in the catalogue header at the top of each series page and within each formulation entry metadata bar.
